Acceptance by David Regler

Acceptance isn’t a term that comes naturally to many business people. For some it has connections with “giving up” and “rolling over”. But there is a power in acceptance that frees your energy to move forward towards a positive outcome.
There’s nothing new in this concept; it’s a view that’s been shared by many ancient peoples through the times. And, it also something that it used, in many ways, in the modern disciplines of psychotherapy. Perhaps you can open yourself a little to play with this concept in your business environment.
You see, acceptance has an opposite state and that’s commonly called denial. When you deny something you are involved in an active process of blocking. People do this in different ways and the end result is usually a feeling of discomfort. And that’s what’s robs you of your energy to create a positive outcome for yourself and everyone involved.
So here’s a little awareness exercise…
Bring to mind something in your business that you’re having trouble with taking action on. At this point you may believe that you fully accept it, but let’s make a playful assumption that there’s some element that you don’t.
Now, however it works for you, make a conscious effort to accept the situation fully. This could be by an affirmation, by visualising a symbol and bringing it into yourself, or whatever else comes naturally to mind. When you have fully accepted every aspect of the situation, become aware of how your body feels different, how you are seeing things now, and the thoughts that come up. Stay with it a while…and you may begin to notice things that you didn’t before.
Even if everything is the same, keep accepting and something will change over the comings days. By accepting difficult things fully, you open up to possibilities; you will begin to see opportunities where you previously saw barriers. At the neurological level you are creating new connections that will generate the answers.
Remember even if everything is the same, keep accepting and something will change.
